2K Hires Popular Battle Royale Producer to Boost Troubled Hero Shooter Ambitious Title
2K Games has secured Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently working on the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.
Leadership Transition Follows Mixed Feedback
Brinkman takes on the role of studio head at the development studio following the dismissal of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming initial reveal last autumn.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer informed team members about this decision through an official communication, which highlighted that playtesting had revealed the necessity for a more defined game identity.
The president noted that the team is now refining the project with a refreshed focus, aiming to better meet player expectations.
A Pattern of Strategic Hires
This announcement echoes a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise development group.
Below is the full message from Ismailer's memo:
